Google I/O 15 Extended GDG Suzhou Event Recap | Starting from June 28, 9pm, GDG Suzhou hosted a six-hour long event featuring a presentation introducing Google developer technologies, and communities, and watching I/O keynote live. * 92 people registered. They are from 18 companies, 15 universities/schools (including one middle school), or undisclosed sources. * 84 showed up. A few of them from the nearby cities, Nanjing. 10 of them are women, i.e. 12%. | | We started with our social game, Ring of Polymer. Participants were asked to group with those they first met. The larger the group, the more point they would win. People had to talk to each other in a short period of time, and try to learn about one another as much as they could. We formed four rings. The largest were 16 people. In the end, they introduced the one next to them openly, one by one, in a ring. | | We loved games. Next was quiz! Where did the name Google come from? Googleplex? 42? H2G2… We loved stories. Zack, growing knowledge. How Google’s trying to help ⅔ of the world population to come online with Project Loon. Other promising projects by Google[x]. More than meet the eyes, ATAP. We had our own Tango devkit (and brought it back at the moment of writing. We’ll have Soli!) We felt the breadth of Google technologies. How about depth? Quantum computer, Deep Mind... | | Google technologies are good. But, how can we profit? Join GDG! We introduced the past, the present, and the foreseeable future of our community. And, followed the steps of our five heros into Moscone Center. | | While waiting for the keynote to begin, we had a good time to social, to selfie. Some watched the videos sent back from GDG Global Summit, and I/O. Some people had fun with cardboard. | | Live stream! | | Thanks to Google and all volunteers who supported this event! Developers and product fans from all over the world were also able to watch and participate in I/O 2015 through I/O Extended events.
