Why cloud computing interoperability matters
Abstract: My software must talk to your software. It is increasingly clear that no single vendor will be able to deliver on its cloud computing vision without cooperating with other vendors. Interoperability is critical for vendors and must be a key consideration for enterprises that are pursuing their own cloud computing and IT modernization strategies. Today's innovation is more open, global, and requires wider collaboration across multiple stakeholders, disciplines, specialties and borders. In the world of cloud computing innovation is driven by open source, open standards, and reference architectures. This keynote address will provide a perspective on why cloud interoperability matters and what are the issues of the moment. The talk provides examples from the collaborative projects at OW2, OpenStack and Apache including projects such asTrystack.cn, OpenCloudware, XLcloud, OCEAN, CompatibleOne in which the community is engaged. The talk concludes with decision making guidance for industry practitioners.
